How to achieve inner harmony

“As within, so without; as above, so below”

This one sentence of great wisdom was written on the emerald tablet found in the tomb of Hermes Trismegistus in the VI century.

The meaning of this one sentence is very simple: what is within us is around us, or as the poet James Allen put it:

“Environment is our looking glass.”

Thus, every problem, every negative thing that appears in our environment, "Environment is our looking glass"in our life, is a signal that something is wrong inside of us.

So, let’s have a look inside. What can be so wrong there? First and foremost, all out negative thoughts and emotions, our fears, grudges, our anger. This “dirt of our soul” lives inside of us, often well-hidden and invisible to the eye. However, its presence is harmful; it destroys us from the inside, dimming our brilliance and influencing our character, our environment and our destiny.

It has been scientifically proven that negative emotions that we experience are also the reason for most illnesses and diseases of our body. If we don’t deal with our emotional pain, if we toss it away and try to ignore it, at some point our body will suffer. Some of this emotional pain evacuates through the physical suffering, but most importantly, this physical pain is there as a big red flag, screaming that we must look inside and take care of that negative belief or emotion. And if we choose to ignore this red flag, sooner or later, physical suffering will be back, and it tends to get more and more serious.

Moreover, it is very easy to get used to the negative thoughts, beliefs and emotions that live inside of us. When it happens, our perception shifts and we no longer know what is good for us and what is bad. And it shows essentially in our choices and actions. For example someone will end up in an abusive relationship etc.

This is why it is very important to pick up the courage and face the dragon: to acknowledge the negative thoughts, emotions and beliefs and to do our best in dealing with them. We need our thoughts and emotions to remain positive as much as it is possible.

Here are some of the methods of dealing with negative thoughts and emotions:

1- Stand up, bang your fist against the table and say “STOP!” aloud and with emotions.

2 – Move! Energetic and tiring physical movement is a great way of evacuating negative stuff and getting rid of bad mood. You can run, jump, do any energetic exercises, dance and so on. Just don’t push yourself too hard.

3 – Buy a punching bag or something to punch. harmonize your lifeWhen you are angry, punch our anger out! You can even imagine that that’s your offender you are punching. it works pretty well for getting the stress out of your system.

Not only because we wash our body with water, but because it can wash away our grudges and anger. Go to the sea-shore and sit there for some time just watching and listening to the water. See how that makes you feel better! And if you have no sea or ocean nearby, you can still take a swim in a pool or take a shower. It is a good idea to imaging as you stand under the jet of water how this water is washing your soul, taking away all the negativity and leaving you pure inside and outside.
